‘Prehabilitation’: Preventing Injuries Before They Happen
Most people seek physiotherapy only after experiencing an injury. But what if you could prevent them before they occur? Prehabilitation through physiotherapy assessments identifies potential risk factors and addresses them proactively. This preventive approach helps avoid future injuries, improves strength, and promotes better long-term health and function.

Physiotherapy is a primary health care profession focused on promoting wellness, improving mobility, and restoring independent function. Our goal is to help you move better, feel stronger, and live a pain-free life.
How long is my first Physio appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete our intake form. Your first assessment takes about 60 minutes, which includes a personalized treatment session. Most appointments are around 30–40 minutes, providing ample time for education, diagnosis, and quality care tailored to your needs.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing, ideally shorts and a loose-fitting t-shirt, so we can effectively assess and treat the areas involved.
Do you offer Telehealth virtual physiotherapy?
Yes! For those unable to visit in person, we provide Telehealth services, allowing you to receive physiotherapy care in the comfort of your own home.
How do Physiotherapists assess my condition?
Our physiotherapists take a detailed medical history and conduct physical tests to understand your condition. Using clinical reasoning, we establish a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan based on your needs and goals.
What techniques and tools do you use?
Our team is trained in several modalities, including Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), acupuncture, manual therapy, laser therapy, myofascial cupping, TENS, ultrasound, and more. We also prescribe diagnostic imaging such as X-rays and MRIs when needed.
Can I choose Millrise Physiotherapy, even if referred elsewhere?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to receive physiotherapy at any clinic you choose, as long as your physiotherapist is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
A doctor’s referral is not required to see our physiotherapists, though some insurance providers may request one for reimbursement. We recommend checking with your provider if you’re unsure.
Will my physiotherapist discuss findings with my doctor?
Yes, with your permission, we’re happy to collaborate with your doctor or other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.

Physiotherapy generally should not cause pain. You may experience mild soreness as your body adjusts, but we aim to leave you feeling better after each session.
